COMMUNICATING WITH LEGISLATORS
On-going communication between our local school districts, Regional Educational Service Agencies/Intermediate School Districts (RESA/ISDs) and government officials is extremely important to maintain strong relationships. CCRESA governmental communication is focused on advocating for children and helping legislators, many times at their request, to understand issues and how their public policy decisions and proposals impact education.
Governmental communication represents an extremely small portion of the budget and activities of a RESA/ISD. Scheduling meetings to meet with local politicians establishes good lines of communication and makes it possible for us to work well together on educational issues. The legislators and their aides appreciate the front line information we are able to bring to bear on issues confronting them. They want to know how the decisions they make will directly impact students and schools in their home areas.
Our government communications are meant to keep education as a priority on the public agenda.
CCRESA participates in a wide range of collaborative conversations with county and other governmental agencies in our community. We work together on safety, emergency plans and preparedness, bird flu and other potential epidemics, and policy issues. This collaboration is a significant benefit to our community. Children and families receive a huge return on the small investment of time we make in regard to governmental communication.
